In the south of New Caledonia, a multinational company completes the construction of a huge mining and chemical complex intended to produce nickel. A few kilometres away, Kanaks from Yaté are directly involved: some work there; others, in vain, are fiercely opposed. Therefore ‘In the wind of the factory,’ everyone wonders about social, cultural and environmental upheavals that the eruption of this globalized modernity will cause in their daily life.
