In 1800, Bonaparte launched a great expedition to the Terra Australis, under the command of Nicolas Baudin. Two hundred men, including about forty scientists and several draftsmen, embarked on two ships for a voyage lasting several years. The official goal was to develop scientific and cartographic knowledge of Australia and Tasmania. For the botanist Francis Hallé, to travel on foot, more than two centuries later, through these same spaces, is to immerse himself with the same scientific passion and a similar graphic talent, in the observation of a fascinating and sometimes even immortal nature...
