In 1940s Australia, a 9-year-old Aboriginal boy arrives in the dead of night at a remote monastery run by a renegade nun. The boy’s presence disturbs the delicately balanced world in this story of spiritual struggle and the cost of survival.

Warwick Thornton

Director, screenwriter, cinematographer, he was born in 1971 in Alice Springs. A graduate of AFTRS, the Sydney film school, he has directed numerous short films (“Payback”, “Mimi”, “Greenbush”), documentaries (“We Don’t Need a Map”), TV series (“Firebite”, “The Beach”, “Mystery Road” and feature films “Samson and Delilah” (Caméra d’or at the Cannes Film Festival 2009), “Sweet Country”, “The New Boy”).
