Tribute to Paul Cox
This biographical documentary profiles one of history's most acclaimed artists, Dutchman Vincent Van Gogh (1853-90), on an unusually intimate level. Placing a slightly greater emphasis on the person than on the artwork, it traces the tumultuous and ultimately tragic events of Van Gogh's life - from his childhood in North Brabant, Holland, through his apprenticeship in Nuenen, Holland, his meteoric development as a Parisian artist, the peak of his career in Southern France, and eventually, his suicide in Auvers at age 37, following excruciating bouts of mental illness.
